Types of Organ Transplants at Medical Trust Hospital

Kidney Transplant

Medical Trust Hospital performed Kerala’s first successful renal transplant in 1986 and introduced cadaver kidney transplantation in 1996. Our Nephrology Department offers advanced services such as hemodialysis, CAPD, CVVHD, and plasmapheresis. With India’s first cadaver transplant registry and a robust transplant protocol, our center is a pioneer in kidney care.

Liver Transplant

Our liver transplant program combines state-of-the-art surgical expertise with advanced postoperative care. The multidisciplinary team handles both living donor and cadaveric liver transplants, managing complex liver disorders with precision and compassion.

Heart Transplant

In 2003, Medical Trust Hospital made history with Kerala’s first successful heart transplant, led by Dr. José Chacko Periappuram. As a recognized center for cardiac transplantation, we continue to offer advanced surgical and postoperative care for patients with end-stage heart disease.

Pancreas Transplant

The pancreas transplant program at our hospital supports patients with severe diabetes and other pancreatic conditions. Often performed in conjunction with kidney transplants, our approach emphasizes personalized treatment and post-transplant monitoring.

Corneal Transplant

Our Eye Care Unit provides corneal transplant services to restore sight in patients with damaged or diseased corneas. Using modern microsurgical techniques and ethical donor management, we deliver safe and effective outcomes for vision rehabilitation.

Each transplant at Medical Trust Hospital is carried out under strict ethical guidelines and in compliance with the standards set by national and state authorities, including KNOS and KSOTTO. Our goal is to offer life-saving transplants while ensuring patient safety and dignity throughout the process.
